CT scans are the standard method for reconstructing 3D information of bony structures in the body. Children with scoliosis require regular monitoring of development and CT scans are inapplicable in this case because of high radiation doses. Instead orthopedic surgeons use two orthogonal x-rays from which they mentally reconstruct the position of the vertebrae. In this talk I will present some preliminary work on improving this process by visually reconstructing the positions of vertebrae in 3D.
