Cloud computing is having a significant effect on how many organisations use computing infrastructure. However, most of the underlying technological principles of cloud computing have been well understood for decades, based on research in distributed computing and operating systems. The recent surge in cloud services appears to have been facilitated by a few key developments, such as the open release of virtualisation platforms that operate on commodity hardware.
Having previously explored access control and information security within distributed systems, I am thus keen to map my past experiences directly to security within cloud computing.
In this talk I will describe research work, mostly early stages of completion, in networks, virtualisation, event-based systems and distributed data management. I am keen to get feedback on these topics, and to discover further areas of potential collaboration.
