Paracetamol is widely used and is effective as a medicine, yet it is also highly toxic in overdose. In New Zealand, paracetamol overdose is high on the list of calls to the Poisons Information Centre and presentations at Emergency Departments (New Zealand National Poisons Centre 2010; Bronstein et al. 2010; Health Protection Agency 2012; Prescott et al. 2009; Watts 2004).
This presentation will show some early tests and ideas in attempting to understand, describe, model and analyse the management of paracetamol poisoning.
