Feedback on self-regulation level is highly regarded in Higher Education literature, but how can we support students' self-regulated learning? This question was addressed as part of my PhD project for first year programming students.
In 2013 a pilot study was undertaken providing COMP160 (General programming) students with information regarding course characteristics and supplying performance indicators to help students to judge their actual performance in relation to their goals. Various data sets were collected to evaluate students' engagement with the information provided as well as the impact on students' study behaviour and performance.
This talk presents the method and nature of the intervention followed by a discussion of the results to which the audience is warmly invited.
