In this talk I'll share a simulation-based work in progress on modeling Delay Tolerant Networks. I'll give a quick introduction to the concepts of DTN and explain a few routing solutions proposed in recent years. This is followed by presenting the simulation work, some started by my TELE470 students last year, and an attempt to quantify the lossy behaviour of DTN protocols by reverse engineering the famous Erlang B queueing model.
Although the reversed solution can report a "capacity" index of the DTNs in the fashion of equivalent numbers of "virtual circuits" within the network, there are still some puzzles demanding explanations...
