Around the world in 5+ months

abstract: This is a light-hearted look at the second half of my
study leave where I travelled "round the world". I went to the
States, Canada, Turkey, UK, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
I gave 13 seminars at 11 different universities. I attended two
international conferences and visited laboratories as prestigious
as that of the Oxford Robotics Laboratory and as little known (yet)
as that of Bilkent and Jinan University. What have I learned and
what hair-raising events have happened?
