The 23rd International Collegiate Programming Contest (Sponsored by IBM) 

The 1999 World Finals of the ACM Programming Contest had two notable firsts: 
It was the first I had attended and the first outside the US. This very informal seminar will 
discuss the lead up to the contest, some thoughts about preparation and (finally) the contest 
itself and its outcome and the significance of contests such as this for the university, 
the department and the participants.
