A new computational theory of natural languages and some new applications
Abstract: In the past six years, I have been working on a new computational
theory to explain how humans understand natural language. During my sabbatical
leave last year, I presented my ideas to various language researchers at
different laboratories around the world. These groups include that of Professor
Yorick Wilks' group at the University of Sheffield and Professor Graeme
Hirst's group at the University of Toronto. Since coming back, I have completed
a program showing how my ideas could be implemented and I have explored
possible new applications. In this talk, I will provide an overview of
the theory and discuss one possible application.
