ABSTRACT
In Semester 1, 2001, the Department of Computer Science offered the
paper COSC241 Programming and Problem-Solving. Together with COSC242,
this paper was set up as the core part of the COSC major. The paper was

intended to lead on from COMP103 which introduced students to
programming with Java. In this seminar, we review our experience from
the point of view of the teaching team in delivering the paper, what we
got wrong and what we got right.
