This talk will cover the evolution path of mobile networks towards the Long Term Evolution Architecture. Then we will look at the some of the topical points around how why heterogeneous networking is needed and some of the potential proposals for supporting network discovery in such networks
Prasan De Silva is Enterprise Architect: Wireless and Convergence within Group Technology at Telecom and has twelve years work experience in the Telecommunications industry - predominantly in the Mobile space. He has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Hons) and a Masters of Electrical Engineering from Canterbury University. Prasan is Telecom NZ's representative at the Fixed Mobile Convergence Alliance (FMCA) and monitors 3GPP and ETSI TISPAN output. He has been involved with co-supervision of post graduate research and guest lecturing in Telecommunications at Canterbury University since 2005. Prasan is visiting the Information Science Department with support from the Visiting Industry Professionals Scheme from FutureInTech.
