Welcome

The aim of our research group is to investigate the computational processes underlying intelligent behaviour. An investigation into intelligence is an interdisciplinary enterprise, both in its methods and in its subject matter. As regards methods, we use techniques from logic, neural networks modelling and statistics. As regards subject matter, we study several human abilities, including the ability to use language, to remember, to reason, to perceive, and to interact with our physical environment.

• June 2015: congratulations to Andrew Webb, who was awarded his PhD thesis. Andrew's thesis, 'Actions of attention, and attention to action: investigating the relationship between visual attention, episodic representation, and language', was placed on the Division of Science's list of 'Exceptional PhD theses'. Andrew joins Hayden Walles, whose thesis was also singled out for this honour.
• June 2015: congratulations to Mira Guise, who has just been awarded her PhD thesis. Mira's thesis is entitled 'An examination of polychronous neural groups as a potential substrate for representation'.
