Title: (Not so) recent development in filesystems
I will cover some topics which are not really new - the ideas
are from `90 or they appeared in Linux a few years ago. However, they
are still under development or they are facing some new problems. The
outline of the talk is as follows :-
- Linux Extended file systems family
- Journaling
- Log-structured FS
- Transactions
- ZFS (and Btrfs)
- FUSE
- UnionFS
- FS repair and ChunkFS
I will not go into deep details, since the primary motivation for me
to do this work was to make an overview for myself of what are the
current trends and interesting topics in file systems development and
where to continue with one of our previous projects.
The slides for the talk are available as a pdf file
here.
