Title: Sun4v architecture - From OBP to userspace
Abstract : Sun4v is the newest SUN's UltraSPARC architecture, implemented by Niagara and Niagara2 CMT chips. It is not only the hardware but also the firmware that makes it a unique virtualization platform. In this talk, I will describe the architecture, in what state the machine is before the first instruction of your code gets executed, what steps are necessary to setup the runtime environment properly and how to start your code using multiple virtual CPUs. This talk will cover certain lowlevel issues like OBP, MMU and the hypervisor API.
